Tell Us Another One!

My niece and nephew took a vacation from the suburbs to have a sleepover at grandma's house in the big city. You may ask "How many bedtime stories did you have to make up on the spot?" The answer. . . . . . 6. "Did they all involve some type of monster and a fairy?" The answer. . . . . . . . Yes. Originality, turns out not my strong suit after a night out at the Taste of Lincoln Ave, but I still managed to entertain. As long as Lauren could pretend she was a fairy in the story, and Erik slayed the monster all was well. Here are a couple shots of Erik and I playing with Photobooth.

D'oh!!!

I discovered a unique way to delve into the personal psyche of 200 or so people with just a leisurely stroll. No I'm not David Blane, he's a tool. It's real easy and very insightful. Next time you take a Jet Blue flight, on your way to the restroom just glance and see what people are watching on their little Direct TV's. You might see someone watching CNBC, maybe a titian of industry. Or you may see someone really into a ballgame on ESPN, maybe he's got money on the game or is a big time Yankee fan. Or a young mother-to-be watching The Food Network to learn some new recipes. What did I learn as I strolled back from the restroom? . . . . mine was the only TV tuned to The Simpsons.

Oyster Is In!

The new issue of Oyster magazine hit the shelves this past week. Flip through to page 64 to see my images from last NY Fashion week. The opening page is a single shot of Bruna Sottili taken backstage at Evisu. The following pages are a mix of runway and backstage shots featuring such designers as Luca Luca, Diane von Furstenberg and Betsy Johnson.

Duuuuuuuude, Look At All The Colors!!!!

A few shots from last night's fireworks after the Philharmonic. I guess too much wine and cheese makes me jittery.

Music For The Masses

So my summer has been going along swimmingly, (what do you think Matt, 'swimmingly', OK to use or rather lame? I kinda like it.) Anywho, (now I've gone too far), I can't even watch ESPN now without being bombarded by commercials featuring some of my favorite songs. VW pretty much owns Wilco and now I just saw a Levi's commercial featuring my favorite Peter Bjorn and John song "Up Against A Wall"! If I hear Sun Kil Moon's "Carry Me Ohio" or "Ocean Breathes Salty" I might have to take action into my own hands! And by 'action' I mean do nothing, and by 'own hands' I mean somebody elses hands.

More Ping Pong?!

Yes, even more ping pong, but you have to notice certain things in these photos. Like, did you notice the intensity on Jason's face as he never takes his eye off the ball. Sign of a true athlete. Also, how Holly manages to drink while she is hitting the ball? Thats some skill right there. And did you notice how for some reason I am wearing sunglasses, at night, while trying to play a "sport" that requires seeing a tiny fast moving ball? Not too bright huh? . . . . And yes, my shirt is very worn so my hands are placed strategically for a reason. I'm trying to keep this blog PG 13.

Pool Parties

A couple samples from last weeks pool party at McCarren Pool. Since I did not take these photos you might be able to actually see me in the crowd, like a hipster version of "Where's Waldo". Don't you see me? I'm the tall, thin, white guy with a scruffy beard! . . . Oh, whats that?. . . . they are all tall, thin, white guys with scruffy beards?. . . Well keep looking, I'm there somewhere. Anyway, some pretty cool bands are playing in the next few weeks at the pool so you should check it out. . . plus you get to see yours truly rock the slip-n-slide! The post below is a video by Dan Deacon. He has a massive following but the music is not for everyone. I think this video is uniquely amateurish and fun. He reminds me of this guy who used to workout at my gym in Chicago. He would be in the aerobics class with all women and was totally uncoordinated. I never laughed so hard in my life. Ask my brother. . . . . . . . . . so, did you find me yet?

Dan Deacon - CRYSTAL CAT

The best was incorporating the ice-cream truck jingle into the mix at Mccarren Pool on Sunday. . . Oh yeah, and the slip and slide.

Ping Pong or Table Tennis?

Not sure the difference, but when it happens outside in the summer, I'm all over it. Iona in Williamsburg has a table in their backyard and we monopolized it until someone (who shall remain nameless), hit the ball into the next yard. People were impressed with my mad skills on the table and my unique grip of the paddle, (I tended to watch alot of Korean table tennis during the last olympics). Here is a shot of my friend Todd from LA, myself, and my other roommate Michelle at said Iona. That was Michelle's first time out in Brooklyn, it looks like she enjoyed herself don't ya think?

Celebrate Good Times COME ON!!!

I might have celebrated a little too much these past 5 days, (your liver is not supposed to actually hurt is it?). But it was well worth it, (mental note, do not try and cure a hangover at 6 pm with alcohol, it only tends to make the hangover at 2 am that much worse). The celebration was for the NY premiere of my friend Todd's movie "Throwing Stars". It looks as if audiences will get a chance to see it in March. . . I should be almost completely recovered by then. The above photo was taken by my friend Brendan at my new favorite bar Matchless. A whole lot of beer, pool and music from the 50's. You may ask yourself, "Why does he look so dazed and confused in this photo?" If so, please re-read this entry from the beginning.
