Yay Hooray!

In honor of the revelation that a group of investors, comprising former employees at Polaroid, have begun the process of buying the technology and equipment to once again make our beloved Polaroid film, I've created a portfolio on my website dedicated to said polaroid. You can find it here. And for information on "The Impossible Project" go here.

Variety Is A Spice

Here are a couple more samples of Allaire using 3 different light sources. I think it's important for a girls first test to give her some variety. But then again, that's just me.  And if you really want variety, check out ffffound.com.  The link is to your right.

Erika

I love re-touching while listening to Journey via Pandora. You never know whats going to happen. Could that be Queen? What's next, Bon Jovi? Sweet! I must admit, when I started editing Erika's images it felt more Wilco, (which often yields Mason Jennings) so thats what I'm listening to now. But the night is still young! I'm doing all this via my laptop, so if the colors are screwy I apologize. I'll be back in NY in a week.

Allaire

I'm going to compile a list of the top names in the model industry. Not as in who are the top models, but in who has the best names. Like Allaire for instance. She is brand new and has the coolest look, and an equally cool name to match. This girl is definitely going to be "one to watch" in the seasons ahead. Here is a polaroid from her very first test.

From Down Under

Here is a polaroid of Stacey from Melbourne. I always ask the models what they like to listen to during the shoot. Most of the time its "anything but country". Stacey on the other hand was very specific, "Queen" she said. So it was all classic rock during our shoot which was a nice change of pace from my usual depressing indie rock, (i mean, you can only feel sorry for yourself for so long). We had a blast and she is such a sweetheart. Although I must admit, I didn't get some of the colloquialisms, it took me awhile to realize that "acadaca" was Australian for AC/DC.

Tequila

Went to movie night at Huckleberry yesterday for a classic that was somehow overlooked by the Oscar committee back in '85. And since its Oscar season, I thought I would see it again so as to compare this years entries to a true classic. Tim Burton's directorial debut by the way.

Honestly

How long did you think it would take me before I posted an image of myself from my scanning trip down memory lane. Is that an actual park behind me? I can't tell.

The Best Part

When I borrowed my brothers scanner, I thought the part I was going to look forward to the most was scanning the polaroids from my shoot with Emily. Now I really did enjoy that process and I love how they turned out, but the best part has been reliving family history through scanning old family photos. It started as I volunteered to scan and re-touch a couple old photos my cousin had shown me over Christmas dinner. That has now blossomed into a digital documentation and archival of my our family's history in print. I can't wait to jump into our family albums and relive my family tree. No doubt it will be an emotional roller-coaster, but hopefully in the end, an amazing trip. Here is a shot of my grandparents wedding day on my mothers side. My grandfather would be the strong, stoic one with the mustache. And my grandmother, (who looks amazingly like my mother in this photo), is seated next to him.

My New Apartment

OK, so I decided to rent this apt (as a location) through the spring so I can continue to shoot there. I am going to have someone go in and "clean" the place. I put clean in quotes because I don't want them to really clean the place, just make it so that I don't have to worry about catching polio from the dust in the carpet. And I am already starting to plan my next shoot for the spring. (Oh how I wish this place was in NYC). Here is a shot of Mackenzie in the kitchen, (yes it is, or was, a kitchen). I love how the pull chain is lit on the right hand side of the image. Totally adds to the creepiness of the environment, don't cha think?
