Mackeral And Rat Traps
Paula really makes the fish market look good. When we weren't stepping over rat traps or trying to chew enough gum to cover the smell of rotting fish, we managed to make Paula look sultry, or maybe smoldering, I'm not sure. Either way, this was the start of our adventure around the fish markets near South Street Seaport.

Drip-what? Drip-who?
Dripbook! I'm not sure if you have been checking out my stories on this awesome little site but it tends to be where I post images prior to posting them on karlrothenberger.com. Check out my stories on Laine, Alexandra, and Jessiann. They all have rad titles, (rad is the new black by the way). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and in case you didn't discover where the fun is, it is in the "eye's of the sun".

Blinded By The Light
Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night. . . . . in case you didn't already know. Alexandra could very well be the best thing to come out of Germany since, . . . . . . . . . . well since me of course! If I could wink via text I would be winking right now. And don't say use an emoticon, I hate those things ;-) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Sorry, the part of me that writes this thing is still in high school and listens to Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Quiz. Where is the fun? (listen to "Blinded by the Light" in my playlist for the answer)

Action, Action, We Want Action!
Thanks to Julie Brook for helping document our shoot in the Financial District! I didn't know they allowed the homeless to photograph beautiful women?! There was a film crew documenting our shoot as well. I will notify you when the final edit hits the web. You will not only be able to see me act like a fool, but hear me as well!
Jessiann
I'm not sure who influenced me to produce this image of Jessiann, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank them. Someone, who shall remain nameless, asked me how the shoot went yesterday. I told them when you have such an amazing model, clothes, make-up, hair and location, not to mention weather, the only thing I could do was screw it up. I hope I didn't screw it up too bad.
Hooray Sun!!!!!
Finally, after a seemingly endless winter, I am finally able to get outside and shoot. This is Jessiann. Right before I took these shots we had a nice conversation about when she was photographed by Bruce Weber for W. My very first job with Bruce was photographing Jude Law and Sienna Miller all around Manhattan for W. I can't help but think that his influence on me showed through in some of these images. . . . However, I chose Brooklyn.

Bulls, Bears, People from Conneticut
We shot an editorial today in the Financial district with Paula featured above. We had a great crew of people on the shoot including my stylist Julie and Katy our make-up artist. Katy and I had mutual friends who were both Trinity Irish dancers and both in the movie Backdraft! Mine was Jenny MacDonald who invited me to the turnabout dance freshman year of high school, then lost 15 lbs and never spoke to me again. To be honest, she was out of my league even with the extra 15 lbs. I was a real loser in high school. . . . . . What's that you say? Nothings changed? I thought you would say that, you're so predictable.

A Series Of Tubes
A congressman not long ago described the internet as a "series of tubes". I'm not really sure what that is supposed to mean, outside of the fact that it seems like he has no idea what the internet is and was using that opportunity to point it out. Be that as it may, what the internet does is connect my work to people around the world who think it is beautiful and worth mentioning. Like the site fashion does it better, who gave me a nice mention complimenting my work with Vilita. You might have to scroll down a little bit as it was posted yesterday.
BBQ Season Is Upon Us
Thanks to Julie Brooke Williams, I have a absolute ton of new music for the Summer BBQ season. Julie has like the best music collection, and now, thanks to her and my little playlist at the bottom of this page, I can share some with you! The only new edition so far is Game Over by Antelope. It will forever remind me of shooting in her Forte Greene apt, and now it will remind you of my journal. No doubt I got the better end of this deal.

Honestly, I'm Not An Idiot.
But it did just dawn on me that the word teaspoon actually refers to a spoon for tea. I guess I thought is was like t-shirt, (but that refers to the shape of the shirt). Wow, that's 2 things I just realized! The other option I thought it could be was that it was short for teeny spoon, but I would never admit that in public, too embarrassing. . . . . . . Also, the "funny" greeting card section at the bookstore contains no "actual" funny greeting cards, trust me, I've looked.
Madness!!!
Up 9 points with 2 minutes left and you lose!!! Guys, you have to make your free throws! "Free" is right in the title!!! You don't win a prize for coming in second. . . . . . . but I do. Drinks on me!!! I need to drown my sorrows somehow, and the prize for coming in second should foot the bill.

Are You Kiddin' Me?!
5:23 PM
This was the exact time on Wednesday that the sun bounced off the windows of the NYU Medical Center, into my apt, resulting in the gorgeous light you see on Alizee. The light is pretty amazing if you ask me. We were under a bit of a time crunch so I wasn't able to shoot as much on her as I would have liked, but we did get 3 distinct looks in about an hour.

"Your Face Smells Like The Beach!"
That's right! In order to keep my beard so soft and supple, I've been using Bumble and Bumble conditioner which had a warm coco butter scent. So if you see a guy who looks like he could be in a band or possibly homeless, but when you get closer something reminds you of spring break circa 2001, yeah, that would be me.
